Activity
There is so much to say about "exercise" but the bottom line is, you just need to move. Forcing activity that you don't enjoy will not stick, so finding what you love is key. Surrounding yourself with like minded friends or acquaintances makes this movement journey much easier. Whether that is attending classes where you make connections knowing that others are expecting you to show up or you have a friend who wants to walk, play tennis, run races or ski with you. 
The types of activity are really endless, but they bucket into these categories:
  • Cardio exercise (biking, running, rowing)
  • Strength training (lifting weights, pilates)
  • Calming (yoga, meditation, stretching) 
  • Recreational (tennis, snowshoeing)
Some people like to work out at a gym, some at home, At the end of the day, it does not matter what you choose or where you choose to do it. Moving is the key and when possible a well rounded mix of all types of activity is the best. 
Nutrition
Eating clean, whole nutritional foods is what nourishes our bodies. Increasing vegetables, fruits, and lean proteins while decreasing sugar, fats and processed foods. Healthy habits don't happen overnight but small changes to improve your eating go a long way. It becomes easier with time. It doesn't mean you can't enjoy some of your favorite indulgences, but everything in moderation. 
Life Balance
​Living a best life requires balance! Work and rest. Eating well AND enjoying cookies. Staying in, going out. Saving and spending. When our balance is off, we are off.
Self-Care
Self-care is not selfish! To be at our best, we must make time for those things that bring us joy and rejuvenate our minds and bodies. Giving ourselves permission to take a break to care for our well being is necessary and important!
